County Tourism Council, a standing committee of Community
Development Alternatives, Inc, represents the collaboration of
several communities with the goal of promoting Crawford County
as a tourism destination.
Beginning in 2003, the Council
has successfully promoted the county through the print
advertising, website development, and event creation.
CDA secured JEM (Joint Effort
Marketing) from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism to advertise
the Driftless Area Art Festival and the Kickapoo Brave Ride,
along with other companion events across the County.
The Council is currently collaborating
with the Vernon County Tourism Council and the Kickapoo Valley
Association to promote the entire area through a new association
called “Driftless Wisconsin.” Through its new website and
brochure, Driftless Wisconsin brings a new awareness to
potential visitors as they consider all that the area has to
offer in their vacation planning.
With the help of participating communities, dedicated volunteers, and both private and public grants, the Crawford County Tourism Council has been able to market Crawford County in ways previously not possible. The Council and its tourism partners have helped smaller communities realize the importance of tourism as a critical component of economic development. In working collaboratively with organizations, communities and adjacent counties, CDA looks forward to helping make tourism an economic force in the area.
